According to traditional Chinese Medicine, the human body is pervaded by an energy circulation system that vitalizes and regulates all organ functions. Energy pathways near the surface of the body are called meridians, and along these organized sets of designated points the flow of energy can be increased, reduced or regulated. Using thin needles, an acupuncturist stimulated selected points to achieve the desired effect. In terms of Chinese Medicine, this is how acupuncture normalizes dysfunction and restores the dynamic equilibrium of heath.
